October 2009

Home from the big bicycle tour, and settling into the wonderfully chilly autumn that greeted us here in Seattle.   The summer tour was incredible in many ways - so much music, so many fantastic people, such beautiful scenery - but it also feels good to be back home and gettin' back to work.  Our last week in Europe was essentially a vacation in France, visiting friends, eating lots of buttery food (including cuisse de grenouille!) and drinking wine.  Now we've got to buckle down and finish recording a new Starlings album,  hit a bunch of farmer's markets, work out some of the new musical ideas stewin' in our heads, and get ready to hit the road again in December.

Thanks again to everyone who supported us along the way, came to the shows, bought a Blues Filter Through or MoZo disc, and generally made us feel lucky to be us every single day!

August 2009

The tour is rolling along!  We've cycled some loooong hills in the English countryside, played 2 completely fantastic festivals, watched a sunset at the tip of Kilmore Quay in Ireland, threw in a cool pub gig in between, and are about to cycle out to the west coast of Ireland after a quick radio gig and a pub show at Colfer's in Carrig-on-Bannow.  We'll try and get some photos and videos up on the Myspace page soon!

July 2009

We're off on our European bicycle and train tour!  Aimee's got her little snare packed and I've got my little guitar on my back...we've got some exciting festival dates lined up right off the bat, followed by a leisurely week cycling coast to coast for 2 pub gigs in Ireland.  A great start to our 11 week trip!  Keep up with more stories, photos and videos on the Myspace page, and come on out to the shows!

June 2009

I just finished up three days in the Jack Straw studio engineering The Starlings upcoming full length record.  They got some amazing tracks laid down, and will be celebrating with a sneak-peek EP to be released the evening of our send-off to Europe.  Mark your calendars for Friday, July 10th at Conor Byrne, it'll be a great show!

We've had a few really cool shows these last few months, and capped 'em off with a fun set at The Fremont Fair this past weekend.  I'll surely miss Bob's Telecaster licks while Aimee and I are cycling around Europe, we've been awful spoiled...

April 2009

It's a busy Spring!   We're hard at work putting together the European bicycle tour, as well as getting Blues Filter Through into the ears of all you people out there...listen to KBCS or KEXP here in Seattle to hear some spins, or let them know you'd like to!

Updates and blogs about all this and more can be found in detail on the Myspace page. Enjoy!

March 2009

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the release show, it was a memorable night...I think my favorite part was the extended and weirdly chromatic build during the "Chop Chop Chop" chorus...pedal steel, drums, bowed bass, guitar, glockenspiel, and 3 voices all converging in a wonderful dissonance...I loved it.

Blues Filter Through is now available online!  Buy it HERE at Sonic Boom Records, our neighborhood powerhouse record store, then let me know what you think.

Aimee and I are beginning to tighten up our summer European bicycle/train tour so keep an eye on the shows page, it'll get updated regularly as the spring draws near.

February 2009

It's official, we'll be celebrating the release of Blues Filter Through at our favorite neighborhood joint, the Conor Byrne Pub in Ballard.  Mark your calendars for Friday, Feb 27th!  It'll be a special show...our friends The Starlings will be there, as well as just about everyone else who played on the record.  Not to be missed!  Also, some of the tunes are posted on the Music page here, as well as on the Myspace page.  Check 'em out.

January 2009

A new year, and a new record almost complete.  Mastering is set to happen in a week, and we've already spent a beautiful afternoon out in Issaquah with a 100-year-old letter press and a thousand recycled cardboard CD cases.  Details on a release show soon!

December 2008

A lot has happened in the last 2 months...we completed a short tour down the West Coast, played some great shows back home in Seattle, and have just finished recording the new album!  We'll have it mixed in the next few weeks, and mastering dates are on the books for early January.  I'm working on putting together the release show for early March, so keep your eyes on the shows page for specifics. The Myspace blog summed up my October adventures pretty well, you can read that for all the stories.  Thanks for stopping by!

October 2008
Two days of recording last week and the new album is well on it's way to being complete!  The four of us had a great time in the Jack Straw studio with Doug Haire at the helm...recording everything live together was a new experience for me, and we got some really fantastic takes out of the deal...things should be ready for mixing by the time November rolls around.  In the meantime, Aimee and I are heading out today for a short run of shows along the California coast.  Check out the shows page for specifics, and the Myspace page for any blogs.

September 2008
Well, the New England string of shows was awesome...I posted a short summary and some stories on the Myspace blog.  September has so far brought a slew of great farmer's markets shows for MoZo (and tomatoes! oh, tomatoes...), and the last few pre-production rehearsals with Aimee and Bob for next week's recording.  Our friend and East Coast bass player extraordinaire Joanna Maria is even flying out to track a few of the tunes with us!  Then Aimee and I are off down the West Coast for some shows in a few weeks, while MoZo will be busking the coolest, free music festival in the country, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.  Last year I saw Doc Watson and Steve Earle among many others...this year I hope to see Robert Plant and MC Hammer...

August 2008
My my, but it is hot!!!  Aimee and I are in Boston for the next coupla weeks, and are super excited to be catching up with The Starlings for some shows...check the Myspace page for blogs about those!  We've been workin' hard on the tunes for the new album, and I'm excited to hit the studio next month.  MoZo will probably be found around Downtown Crossing getting in some good buskin' while we're here, and generally trying to stay cool ...oh, how that Seattle weather has spoiled me...

June 2008
Summer is here! (i think) and I've got bunches of cool shows coming up.  Check 'em out.  Also, been putting together the band for the upcoming full-length recording...it's been tons of fun workin' out all the tunes with those guys.  I've got a few pretty ambitious ideas for a couple of tracks, and I'm excited and humbled by the volume of local talent helping me realize this record.  I'll keep some names to myself so it's more of a surprise, but if ya make out to some shows, you'll see some of 'em sittin' in.

MoZo has been rockin' the farmers markets, birthday parties, and pike place sidewalks...we recorded a live CD at Conor Byrne on a sunny, lazy, Sunday afternoon back in April.  Turned out great, if I do say so myself.  It's a limited edition disc, only available from us in person...so get on out there to buy some local produce and music!

March 2008
Back home in Seattle!  The Myspace page has all the stories and some pictures.  I'll get back down to work now and keep you all posted about news and new recordings and happenings and such.

September 2007
The tour ended with an awesome night of camping in Maine, followed by a great show at the Paradise Lounge...it was a great trip, I hope we make it back there again soon!  The official NW release of 2+2 is happening on Nov 17th at the Conor Byrne Pub in Ballard.  Cross-Eyed Rosie (from Portland) is also on the bill, and I'll have some friends/fellow musicians sittin' in with me on a few tunes.
Should be a fun night, mark your calendars.

August 2007

2+2 is officially finished, and we're heading out to New England tonight for 2 weeks of fun shows!

I'm starting to get the CD out to local radio, have a listen to Rus Thompson's Roadsongs Tuesdays on KBCS 91.3FM, you might hear a track!  Here's what Rus had to say about the new release:

"Moe Provencher's solo debut is a slow-burning firecracker of an EP.  In a voice that melts in your ears,  she sings about long-lost places and the search to fill the hole that "gets punched in our soul" (500 Years), in a country she once considered leaving.  The hurt and the hope burns through every fine song on this too-short introduction to Moe's songwriting gifts...the 4 songs here leave you wanting more and that's a good thing."

A Northwest release show is in the works, keep checkin' in for more info about that.
